Start to manage with a "business head"
Organisations are constantly seeking flatter management structures and placing wider responsibilities on their managers. To get ahead today, a manager must be able to approach their job with a solid understanding of the basics of finance.
This programme is developed on a client-by-client basis, meeting individual specific needs. A typical programme would cover the following:
Read and better understand the financial statements — the Profit & Loss A/c, The Balance Sheet and the Cash Flow Statement.
Understand the difference between ‘profit’ and ‘cash’
Identify the components of working capital
Compute and interpret a number of basic financial ratios
Understand basic budgeting and its importance in successful management
Identify and explain variances that occur between ‘actual’ versus ‘planned’ performance.
Communicate more effectively with finance professionals
Programme length is determined by client needs but typically lasts 2 days. As with all MaST programmes this programme is highly interactive with extensive use of exercises and case studies.
